Among them, filter-type purifiers have mature technology and a high market share and are generally composed of fans + pre-filters + multiple filters with different functions. The main role is the filter, but the filter will absorb a lot of dust during use, and it needs to be cleaned and maintained regularly, otherwise the purification effect of the air purifier will become worse, and even the noise will become louder.

First of all, first, check whether the filter needs to be replaced or not, and directly look at the filter replacement reminder indicator that comes with the purifier. If the light (turns red) is on, it means that it is time to replace it or judge by some subtle observations, such as the air outlet. The air volume has dropped significantly and the noise has become louder; the PM2.5 measured at the air outlet has increased significantly; the air outlet has an obvious odor; the color changes and the filter (especially HEPA) should be replaced as soon as possible after the color turns black.

In order to ensure safety before cleaning the filter, before preparing to clean, first, disconnect the power supply, refer to the manual, open the air purifier filter compartment door, and take out the filters in turn. Or open the filter cover after power off, check the identification information on the filter, and start cleaning.

pre-filter

The pre-filter (also called the pre-filter/primary filter) is the first layer of the air purifier filter, and it is also the most easily dirty layer of the filter.

Cleaning cycle: According to the frequency of use, it is usually appropriate to clean 1-2 times a month.

The cleaning steps are: wipe/suck, wash, and dry.

Specific operation: Use a rag/vacuum cleaner to remove the dust. If you feel that the cleaning is not thorough enough, you can also rinse with water, remember to use a soft brush.

Activated carbon filter

Activated carbon filter, its main function is to remove volatile organic compounds such as formaldehyde, toluene, etc., as well as deodorization and deodorization.

Cleaning cycle: For newly renovated users, it is recommended to clean and dry at least once a month in the rainy season in the south and the rainy season in the north; in other cases, the cleaning cycle can be adjusted appropriately according to the frequency of use.

The cleaning steps are: wiping/sucking, and drying.

Specific operation: The dust on the surface of the activated carbon filter can be wiped with a dry cloth or cleaned with a low-grade vacuum cleaner. Due to the particularity of the pore structure and solidity of activated carbon, it is not recommended to wash it without clear instructions.

Put the cleaned filter in the outdoor sunlight, and expose the front and back sides to the sun for 2-3 hours respectively, to make it heat up and "desorb" to achieve the effect of "regeneration" of activated carbon. Although the effect is limited, and after 3-4 exposure to the sun, it still cannot rewrite the fate to be replaced, but regular cleaning is still necessary to maintain the purification effect of the filter and reduce the risk of secondary pollution~

HEPA filter

HEPA high-efficiency air filter has the characteristics of large wind resistance, large dust holding capacity, and high filtration precision.

Cleaning cycle: According to the frequency of use and pollution conditions, it is usually cleaned once every 1-2 months, and the cleaning time can also be judged according to the accumulated use time.

The cleaning steps are sucking/wiping, and drying.

Specific operation: Since the material of the HEPA filter is generally paper, it cannot be washed and cleaned without specific markings, otherwise, it will change the pore structure of the filter and even cause blockage, which will directly affect the purification effect.

You can use a vacuum cleaner to clean the dust on the surface of the filter (except glass fiber HEPA) or wipe it gently with a dry cloth or paper towel and dry it properly, and UV sterilization can also be performed if conditions permit; however, if the original white filter color is found After blackening, it must be replaced as soon as possible, and be careful not to scratch the surface of the filter screen when cleaning.
